Formatting Search Result Page listings...

Why can't I find any documentation, or any resources in changing the
formatting of the product search result pages. Our search result's look
and feel is completely different from our site and the only parameters that
seem to be customizable are the font colors, background images, number of
results per page, etc. What I want to know is if it's even possible at all
to change the font, maybe add a product image, and the type of information
displayed per product on the product search result listings.

Basically I want our search result page to look like our product listings
pages. please check out www.electroline4u.com and browse through our
products. then do a search for say 32FD9954. notice the different formats?
Please help. Anything will be appreciated.
