email

We are using shopsite version 6. We also have a program called Imail for
email processing on the same server.

The SMTP settings in the imail program are set for no relay. If we set them
to relay than we are listed as an open relay in various places like ORDB.
However, this setting causes the email confirmation and notification to not
be sent and the customer gets the following message:

There was an error sending your email receipt.

However, your order has been processed correctly.

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the combination of
these two programs. I could find nothing in the KB.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

In ShopSite v6.3 the shopper is no longer aware of any email issues, the
receipt screen will display normally with no error messages. The error
will be logged and the merchant will see it next time they go to the
Orders screen.

If you are tagged as an open relay by ORDB, then that is something that
you will have to take up with them, they should have to prove that they
can relay mail through you before they add you to their list. If they
can relay mail through you with that setting in your SMTP server, then
that is a problem you should report to the makers of Imail, since they
should not be allowing the relaying by ORDB if you have it set to only
relay from the localhost.
