upload problem 6.3 pro

I am using shopsite 6.3 PRO and when i try to upload products, the server
timesout. then when i hit cancel and then try to continue the upload, i get
the shopsite menu but nothing else. the upload does not continue. I am
uploading over 4000 products.

is this a known bug or a problem that i need to deal with my provider?

I bet you are exceeding the cgi timeout.
try doing 2000 twice.
count the time it takes.
ask isp what cgi timeout is set for.

Had this problem my self and
wound up changing hosting services.
