Google global gtag.js integration with shopsite

Has anyone integrated Google global gtag.js with shopsite?

I have a shopsite store client asking about using the Google global gtag.js. After watching a 2018 Google tutorial, it appears they want gtag.js snippet code in the html head of each page.

I know I can use the template editor to add the code to the head of the page, more info, cart, billing and thankyou.

Do I just turn off shopsite manage analytics?

Is there a shopsite upgrade coming to handle gtag.js?

One of our engineers writes:

If they are using it for analytics then yes they would need to disable the analytics in ShopSite. If they are only using to serve ads on their store then no, they would put in the snippet to disable the send_page_view as described on the Google Developers page: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gtagjs/
