Associates/Affiliate e-mail notificatiom

Postby Ryan DeLuca » Mon Jun 30, 2003 2:59 pm

The post below I found when searching and it is from a year ago. He is
asking if we can change the affiliate e-mail that Shopsite sends out
when an affiliate gets an order. Does anybody know if this is possible
to do yet?

We would like to take out the e-mail address of the customer so that our
affiliates can't spam our customers like a few of them already have.
There must be some privacy issues here. If anybody says "We won't give
your e-mail address out to any 3rd party" on their site (like we do),
they are not telling the truth to their customers with this affiliate
program!

Thanks!

When an order is processed and it is as a result of an associate referal

then an optional e-mail can be sent to the associate confirming the
sale.
This is great and we've been using this.
However the Order Number is also included in the e-mail message. This
has
nothing to do with the associate and we consider this confidential
information as the associate will be able to deduce how many other
orders
are being pushed through the web site.
Can this be removed in the next release?

There is still no way to change it, but you could have it sent to you
instead of to the Associate's email address, and make some other kind of
arrangement for notifying the Associate of orders. The entire purpose of the
email address setting in the Associate record is to send the notification of
orders, so changing it to your email address instead of theirs should not
affect anything else.

Thanks for your help, like always.

The only problem is that we are not yet using any other affiliate software, so
this is the only way that affiliates know when they get an order.

Hopefully in version 6.4! I can imagine that there would be a lot of different
ways that people would like to customize that e-mail notification.

Thanks!

Ryan -

What if we added a feature to the Stone Edge Order Manager to automatically
send out an email message when you import an order that has an affiliate?
That way you could use the Order Manager's email templates to customize your
message.

Yes, that sounds like a great idea!
