I have been running Shopsite 12 sp1 r4 on Windows Server 12 without any problem.
Today I downloaded and installed Shopsite 12 sp2 r4. The installation completed, the log was written, their were no errors reported. I enabled new features on the selected store.
However, the merchant directory still shows the store running Shopsite 12 sp1 r4.
I downloaded a second copy of the install file. Ran the installation again. Got no complaints from shop site. Log file completed. No errors reported.
The store is still running shopsite 12 sp1 r4.
Why is the selected store not running the newly installed Shopsite 12 sp2 r4 ???
Please help.

I wonder if some of the cab files from the previous release are still hanging around in one of your Windows temp directories and getting used instead of the files from the new exe. You could try something like CCleaner to clear out windows temp directories then try the upgrade again, or if the temp files are specific to the user you are logged in as, try creating a new admin-level user, login as that new user and try the upgrade from there.

Thanks Loren,
I looked in the actual data, SC and SS directories for shopsite and their were numerous new files installed today.
I am thinking its the store itself that is not updating somehow.

I just ran diagnose.cgi and it shows that the shopsite image directory is not writable.
Could that have anything to do with the upgrade failing?

Re: Upgrade to V12 sp2 r4 on Windows 12 failed
On Windows the ShopSite Images directory should not be writable by the web user (doesn't need to be), so that is just fine.
What determines the version of the store you see in the backoffice is the files in the ss and sc directory (most specifically the common.dll, but it needs to match with the .cgi files, too).
Did you try any of the previous options mentioned to clear temporary files? Another thing to try stopping the website in IIS before running the upgrade to see if perhaps it has some of the files open and preventing them from being overwritten.

Re: Upgrade to V12 sp2 r4 on Windows 12 failed
I changed the shopsite images directory to writeable and reinstalled the v12 sp4 r4 upgrade. Install log reported no errors and that upgrade was completed.
ran the diagnose.cgi and the images directory is now writable.
Still the store is showing it is operating on Shopsite 12 sp1 r4.
Anyone have any ideas on what is missing?
Thank you,

Re: Upgrade to V12 sp2 r4 on Windows 12 failed
Good morning,
I just checked my notes from the install a year ago of Shopsite 12 sp1, and I found that Shopsite support had to manually copy some files to the proper directory. Apparently the windows installer at that time did not complete the installation.
This is probably the case again for the upgrade to Shopsite 12 sp2.
Is anyone available to help with this?
Thank you,

Just noticed one more problem.
After the attempted upgrade from Shopsite 12 sp1 to 12 sp2, the themes are not displaying. They were all displaying in Shopsite 12 sp1.
preferences > Themes > (No choices are displaying)
