merchant product field showing up in abandoned cart email

We are using the merchant product field to send some code to the product. This is nothing we would want/need the customer to see. However, after doing some testing, it appears that the Merchant product field is displaying right below the product customer text entry box (freeOpt) on the abandoned cart emails. There is no tag for merchant product field, so I don't see any way to exclude it from showing up on these emails in the abandoned cart area of the shopping cart template. Is there a way and I just can't see it?

Go to Commerce Setup > Order System > Shopping Cart and make sure you have not checked:
"Display field on order screens (can be used for debugging)"

I'm afraid we can't turn this off because we use this field to send other information to the cart that we do need. We send a string that represents glyphs to create an image for the customer. On the cart pages, we can, through scripts, show the glyphs as images. In an email, however, this isn't possible so the customer is just seeing the string of characters. Here is a sample product that shows this feature: https://www.nelleandlizzy.com/custom-rings-double-name-ring.html . The string of characters means nothing to a customer so we would rather not muddy up their email receipt. We thought that since it was a "merchant field" it would show on customer documents. Any other way to not have it show up? Thanks!

Since you are using custom templates you can have CSS for .cart-product-merchantfields {display:none} to not display the field in emails.
