Customer Loyalty Program-Rewards based on $$ not #

Would love have the ability to have a customer loyalty program based on how much they have spent (logged in as registered customers) instead of how many of something they have purchased.

AND/OR

Have a reward be a gift certificate of a certain $$ value so they can use that as an amount off on their next purchase. So if we could pick gift certificate as a product in rewards, that would be great.
