Visa order placed on ShopSite without the visa card number

Postby Shiperton Henethe » Tue Jun 17, 2003 3:13 am

Hi

One of our customers has managed to place an order
on our ShopSite (ShopSite® Pro 6.3.0,)
with Visa selected as the card but without entering
any card number!

Yes, they did enter a "Card Verification Value"
but how come the database doesn't seem to have
stored the card number? (If indeed the customer
did enter the number!)

Is there a bug in the system?

Ship

P.S. We now have quite a large number of orders
(i.e. about 6000 orders) on ShopSite.
Is this likely to cause problems?

Here's part of my post awhile ago, which sounds like the same issue. This
has not happened to us since just before my previous post.

The CVV (9710 877) would show in the Back Office Orders section, however no
credit card number. We would followup with the customer and get their CC
number. The 9710 in the funny looking CVV was actually the last four digits
of the customer's CC#.

One of these customers called and gave us his CC #. He was quite sure he had
entered it in the online order. What I discovered when I went to enter the
CC# into Order Manager was that the CC # was already in Order Manager. I
checked another order (customer who hadn't called yet with his CC#) and his
CC# was already in OM. For some reason ShopSite wasn't revealing the CC#,
but it was being imported into OM.

Hi,

OM means order manager. This is an external program that can download and
handle shopsite orders.

In order to check into your problem: Did you try to download the one order
that is concerned using the download order functionality? Can you then see
the cc number?

Also, do you manually process credit cards or do you use an online service
like authorize.net.

I urge you to contact your hosting company who hopefully is expert enough to
analyze your order files to see why the CC # is missing. If they can't, have
them send the order file to ShopSite.

See:

Apparently if a CVV2 of 8 or more characters (spaces count) is entered you
will have a problem viewing the Credit Card number. However, downloading or
using a gateway is not affected and the CC number is correctly downloaded or
passed.

CVV2's are supposed to be 3 or 4 digits but as noted some cards also print
the last 4 digits of the CC number followed by a space and then the 3 digit
CVV2 value.

A patch is available that fixes this issue. Contact your hosting provider
and have them install the new .cgi file for you.
