wholesale price input for each product

Utilities > Database > Download Products. Choose the Tab delimited format and the Download fields option and select just the fields we want, Name and Quantity on Hand, Price. Click the download button.

We get a spreadsheet layout of the products with just the name, quantity, and price.

We can then create a formula to multiple the quantity X Price and sum it up to give you the value of your inventory.

How about adding an input box for each product where we can put in our wholesale price? Not visible to the consumer of course. So maybe we have Price, On Sale Price, Our Price/cost input boxes.

We'd then be able to do a few things:

1. value of inventory wholesale, as well as the above outline for retail. This is offline of course, in our spreadsheet.

HOWEVER for a more "real time" feel for profit per order....

We already see Transaction ID, Payment Processing Info, IP Address, etc on the "View orders", how about.....

2. with an added field "Profit", and a simple calculation (a sum of: price minus our price for each item sold) on the "view orders" page in the ShopSite Control Panel, we can see "profit on this order". Yes it a gross profit, not including CC fees, shipping, etc but to give us an order-by-order number (you made $15 on this sale) would be great. OF course that would NOT EVER be on the packing slip.

You can already do the wholesale price part of this by using one of the Extra product fields. You can set the name of one of the extra fields on the Preferences > Extra Fields Configuration screen to Wholesale Price. Then when on the Products screen that field will have the name Wholesale Price. I don't think the download file will carry that name on through though. But on the Utilities > Database > Download screen you can use the "Use Field Map" option to create a custom download format that specifies a different name for the fields so you could name it whatever you want. You can also change the arrangement of the fields so you could put all the prices near eachother in the download file.

These settings won't carry through to the order though so I'll log an enhancement request to look into doing something in the orders.
