Product specific shipping options

We sell a lot of books, in addition to other products like t-shirts, caps, etc.

But we cannot offer the shipping option of Media Mail, because customers inevitably choose it for products that do NOT qualify to go Media Mail. But since it's the cheapest version, they select it.

If we could, say, check a box for each product that qualified for Media Mail it would be a huge help in keeping our shipping costs down.

Are you using the real-time USPS integration? If so, then I think the only way you would get Media Mail rates in the cart would be if you have specified Media Mail in the 'USPS Shipping Container' setting for each product. And if there are other products in the cart that don't have a container type of Media Mail, then Media Mail won't be an option and it will just show the other USPS rates that apply.
