How to stop "recalculate" shipping message

Postby MgmtSpec » Fri Dec 12, 2014 9:30 am

Hello,

I'm doing some test orders and running into an issue. When a ship to zip changes during checkout there is a message that forces the customer to go back to cart and recalculate.

1) I am using currency based shipping - has nothing to do with zip codes
2) I've disabled "display shipping errors"
3) Creates frustration as this occurs AFTER buyer enters CC info - going back to cart forces them to re-enter payment info all over again.

I realize IF they enter correct zip at cart screen this error would not happen. However, the site I'm working on it will be common for repeat
customers that may buy for themselves OR gifts shipped elsewhere. Browser memory will often auto populate with a previous zip.

Please advise!
Thanks!

There isn't anything in particular that you can do to prevent the recalc if the zip code changes. The zip code can be used for other things such as tax, free shipping which would also necessitate a recalculation of cart values.

As for the fields being automatically filled in the next time a shopper returns to the site, you can set an option to have cookies for the shopping cart address information cleared when the order is complete. This is found on Commerce Setup > Order System > Thank You by checking the Remove Shopper Cookie checkbox.

SO does that mean tax is calculated by zip? Could be situation where billing zip is in taxable zip but ship to is not. How does SS handle this?

Tax is charged by where the product is being shipped to.
