Change main image with order options selection

Hello,

I also posted this in custom template forum as I don't think there is a built in solution for this.

I'm looking for a solution to
1) Select a drop down color/finish option and change main image
2) Select a qty by 10s up to 100
3) There may be as many as 33 finish options

While it appears this could be done with "Advanced" options this generates 10 x number of finishes for image inputs. So I would need to enter the same image
10 times for each finish color - even though it will be the same image. Then do this for all colors meaning potentially 300 data entries. In fact, I tested this and it combines what was 2 pulldown options into a single LONG one with all the combos...not very friendly.

I've looked at trying to use JS but seems it would require image file name in the 'value' portion which is of course needed for the shopping cart to pass values and cost.
