Google Analytics Tracking Code

Postby sholt » Fri Nov 28, 2014 6:50 am

I would like to add the parameters to my tracking code for demographics etc that are available from Google. As I understand it all that is needed is the following parameter to be added to the script

ga('require', 'displayfeatures');

Is this possible within the backend framework?
If not
Is this going to be available to shopsite soon?

If you setup Google Analytics in ShopSite, then ShopSite will add the regular Google Analytics code to all your ShopSite generated pages. However, if you need different Google Analytics code, I would suggest disabling the ShopSite feature to add the Google Analytics code, and instead add your own code. Can you provide me with the URL to your website? If I can see your store and see what theme/template you are using, I can tell you where you can add your own Google Analytics code to have it added to all pages.

My site is osler.org

For more info on the additional features I am hoping to add to google analytics
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/display-features

I'm really hopeful that this is something shopsite will consider integrating into its system.

It looks like you are using the Classy theme. That theme is an older theme, and a little more difficult to edit, so before you edit one file, you will need to upload modified versions of a few of the classy theme files, such as the page template, product template, search result template and cart template files. I have created modified versions of these files, so all you need to do is go to Merchandising > Custom Templates, and upload each file in the correct location. Once you have done that, you can go to Merchandising > Custom Templates > Includes, and edit the Classy_GA_Code.sst include file with the code that you want for Google Analytics. Last, go to Utilities > Publish > Regenerate, to re-create all your store pages with the updated GA code.

You can download the template files here:
