how do I customize the acknowledgement?

I know it's there somewhere, but I can't find it!
I want the email that goes to a download customer to include a link to a README file which helps know how to do the download.
Where is it hiding?

Have your tried Commerce Setup > Digital Downloads > Digital Download Configuration > Message text when sending download keys to customer
Just add your link to the readme file into that text.

Found it. Thanks Jim.

Is there any way to force an acknowledgement/receipt email without actually making a purchase?
I want to see what the receipt email will look like before the customers do....

I don't think there is a way to get the receipt without making a purchase.

You can temporarily enable a payment type of COD, purchase order, etc, place an order for the product, then disable that payment type to get around having to use a credit card.

There's still a problem with the acknowledgment/receipt email.

I followed this path (remember, I'm running 7.1)

COMMERCE SETUP
CONFIGURE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD
and went to the row for
Message text when sending download keys to customer:
and the text that is in there is not the text that showed up on the test order I placed an hour ago.

Must be something wrong or I'm in the wrong place.....

ShopSite 7.1 is 10 years old, you should definitely upgrade to the latest version.

I don't have access to a 7.1 store so I can't see what setting were available in that version.
Some of the text may have been hard coded in that version and may not be merchant editable.
Check other fields on the Digital Download config screen to see if the text you get on the receipt is there.
You might also check on the Preferences > Store Text > various config screens like Shopping cart, Messages, Receipts and see if the text appears on any of those screens.

Jim,
I definitely will upgrade, but I don't change horses in mid-stream and we just launched a new product today.
And, yes, I Believe in Murphy.


In PREFERENCES > STORE TEXT
there is a RECEIPTS
It is much closer to the actual receipt but not quite.

I'm going to test - I'll add text and then place another order and see if the added text makes it into the actual receipt.
