Limit product to order one time only per customer

We have a situation where we want to limit products on our page to only order 1 time and one time only per customer (even across multiple orders). We have ShopSite Pro v12. We have looked into using coupons that were one time only, but that doesn't give us a way to limit additional purchases of the same product. The end result should be that the customer can only order the product one time, and all future orders by this customer for the same product would be rejected.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

There is nothing built into ShopSite that could prevent a shopper form making more than one purchase. Such a limit would be almost impossible to enforce. All the shopper would have to do is use a slightly different name, address, email address and they would be able to purchase again. The same thing happens in retail stores where they have a limit of one per customer, all you have to do is go back through a different checkout line or at a different time of day and you can get more than one of an item.
