Customizing shopping cart error messages?

Postby Brandon Eley » Sat May 03, 2003 7:29 am

Is it possible to customize the header/footer of the shopping cart error
messages? They are so plain, white background, etc. I'd really like to
integrate them into our site design if possible.

Thanks,

Try making files in the sc directory called bo_error_head.html and
bo_error_tail.html. That used to work a long time ago, but I haven't
seen it lately so I don't know if it still works. Note that since these
files are in the sc cgi directory, they will affect any store that is
using the cgi's in that directory.

Yeah, I don't think that will work b/c we're still on a shared server...
but thanks. That might be something to introduce in a later version...

Hi Loren,

when using IE 6.1 and not filling required fields, an alert box shows up
asking to fill in the required fields.

The error boxes from IE always read something like:

"Please fill in Stadt"

Where "Please fill in" is in english, the word Stadt is in German, as it is
the field name in for city in German from our shop (we run our complete shop
translated into German).

Even better is: "Credit Card has expired". The german wording needs to be
something like "Kreditkarte ist abgelaufen"

Is there any way to modify/translate the wording that displays in the error
boxes of IE? If not, then there should be translatable fields in the
backoffice of the shop in one of the coming versions.

Sorry about my english, was a long (Mon)day and its hard to concentrate and
think in the other language.

Thanks,

Niko

Niko,

These strings can be localized in ShopSite v6.3.

Thank you Loren,

I have recently moved all our websites away from Interland. Our Online Shop
is about to follow. I will purchase upgrade and store migration support from
ShopSite and adjust the error messages as soon as we have 6.3 :-)

Regards,
Niko
