shipping setup

Postby poconosoap » Fri Aug 22, 2014 9:01 am

Hi all - trying to set up the shipping charges based on subtotal. If $50 or less, the shipping cost will be $5. if $50.01 to $79.99 the shipping costs will be $10. $80 or more is free shipping ... I have enabled the free shipping with the subtotal radio button checked. I have tried all the shipping methods from weight to none and nothing works ... any insights into what I need to do would be most helpful ... thanks, Dan

Sounds like Shipping By Currency will work best for you. With Shipping By Currency, you can setup exactly what you have listed in 2 different ways:

Option 1
In the first "Amount Up To" field you would enter $50, with the first shipping field being $5.
In the second "Amount Up To" field you would enter $10,000, with the first shipping field for this option being $10.
Then you can setup the free shipping option (Commerce Setup > Shipping), making sure you select the country you want to allow free shipping to (States and Countries), and exclude any zip codes you want excluded (such as Hawaii and Alaska).

Option 2
In the first "Amount Up To" field you would enter $50, with the first shipping field being $5.
In the second "Amount Up To" field you would enter $79.99, with the first shipping field for this option being $10.
In the third "Amount Up To" field you would enter $100000, with the first shipping field for this option being $0.

Hi lauren - thanks, that did the trick .... now I have to tackle the issue of whenever I change the quantity on the shopping cart and hit enter instead of recalculate, I get taken back to my products page ... thanks, Dan

When you are editing a form field (such as the quantities), and click "enter", the next 'submit' button (in order that they appear) that is in the form will be activated. It sounds like your next submit button is the continue shopping button. The easiest way to change this is to just switch the position of the continue shopping button and recalculate button. In your shopping cart template, switch the position of the [-- BUTTON Recalculate --] and [-- BUTTON ContinueShopping --] and that should solve your issue.
