variable price

Postby rgrstvr » Sun Jun 22, 2014 7:55 pm

I have checked all the squares on my products marked variable price. I understand there are themes that do not support variable price and have avoided those themes. I have asked the technical help in the Phillipines who support shopsite for my website and they say they have no tools to tell me how to activate the variable prices. I have downloaded a large document published by shopsite about how to do everything with their program. I have gone over and over and over the information on the back page of my shopsite program.

I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO ACTIVATE THE VARIABLE PRICES FOR ANY OF MY PRODUCTS.

What page and product templates or theme are you using? What is the url to a page where we can see the code on your page?

I removed the username and password from your post. That kind of information should never be posted to a forum. I recommend that you change the password immediately. That can be done under Utilities > Change Password

Your pages do have the variable pricing enabled. Look at http://endangeredspecies.com/store/page4.html . Note that all of the products have an input value for the price. That is what Variable pricing will give you, the ability for the shopper to enter a price that they are willing to pay for the items.
The price that you set for a product in the Price field will become the minimum amount that the shopper can pay. For example I added each of the pot sizes with a price of 1.99 and they were added to the cart for that price. I added ABELIA_GRANDIFLORA_KALEIDOSCOPE with a price of 5.99 and I got a message saying "Input price is too low, changing to minimum value. " and the price was set to 20.00. and for ABELIA_GRANDIFLORA_ABELOPOS (Sunshine Daydream) when I entered 5.99 the same message was displayed and the price was set to 15.00. Checking the plant prices in the backoffice of the store they are indeed 20.00 and 15.00. The pots all have a price of 0.00 in the backoffice so someone could get them for free if they put a price of 0.00.

I changed my password. How would you recommend I pass such info to the forum in the future?

Also - with your help I realized that I am not looking for a variable price. I am looking for quantity pricing.

But when I look up they quantity pricing they say they offer it but I cannot find out how to activate it.

If we at ShopSite need to get your store login information we will ask you to submit it on our secure form at https://secure.shopsite.com/secureform.php
In this case we wouldn't have needed it if we had just received a url to one of your store pages, since we could see that variable pricing is on the store page.

The product quantity pricing is a feature that is in ShopSite Pro, not Manager or Starter. You store is a manager level store so the functionality isn't available in your store. You can see a comparison of the the features in Pro, Manager and Starter at http://www.shopsite.com/scchecklist.html Product Quantity Discounts (quantity pricing) is found on the Merchandising Tools tab.

So to get the quantity pricing you will need to get your store upgraded to the Pro level. Note: Variable pricing overrides all other types of pricing in ShopSite templates, so when you upgrade to the Pro version you will need to disable Variable Pricing when you enable Quantity Pricing or it will have no affect.
