Turning on SSL messes up checkout formatting

Postby PeteMagsig » Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:41 pm

So I turned on SSL in Hosting Service -> SSL Security Settings, the "Use SSL security in Shopping Cart" checkbox.

Now when I test checking out, my cart has no formatting. I suspect the problem is that the link to the CSS for the page layout in the checkout page is:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.triltech.net/shop/publish/slate.css">

And it probably needs to be https instead of http.

How do I fix this?

Have you Published since enabling the SSL setting? Try going to Utilities -> Publish and Regenerate from there, then try the Checkout page again.

Oh, and make sure all of your SSL URLs are correct, too. When I go to Checkout in your store, it's going to https://www.triltech.net/shop/sc/order.cgi/billing.cgi which indicates that you have 'order.cgi' at the end of your Shopping Cart CGIs URL, which is incorrect. Your SSL settings should probably be something like:

Shopping Cart secure URL:
https://www.triltech.net/shop/sc
Secure Store URL:
https://www.triltech.net/shop

ShopSite secure URL:
https://www.triltech.net/shop/ss
ShopSite Images secure URL:
https://www.triltech.net/shop/shopsite-images

Thanks. That did it.

The regeneration made no difference, but changing those settings to what you recommend did. However, I had to do it in two phases because I was getting some kind of server error, doing the Shopping Cart and Secure Store first and the Shopsite secure URL second.

Also, those settings you recommended that I fix were simply using the defaults provided by ShopSite.

It sure would have been nice if I had just been able to check the SSL checkboxes and it used the appropriate defaults. Would have saved me a lot of headaches.

FYI, by default the SSL URLs in ShopSite are not configured at all, they only contain 'https://'. So someone had to set them up the way they were.
