Custom Fields in Customer Registration.

About 80%-90% of my products I can only sell to licensed cosmetologist. I have to have their license number. Right now I'm giving out the one username and password to the customers I already have. I feel with something as simple as extra fields, my business could open up so much. As someone who has tried coding, it seems like it shouldn't be to difficult, so I hope it happens soon.

Can you explain how custom fields for registration would help you?

A shopper would still be able to create an account, login and purchase items from the store before you ever get the registration information to know if you should be selling to them. From what I read in your comment you would need to prevent them from ordering certain items. The customer registration feature does not provide that functionality.
