500 Server Error - Backend Issue

Postby Paula » Wed Feb 19, 2014 7:00 pm

When I go into my backend and try to edit something on the "Configure Order Display" page, then submit, I keep getting a 500 server error message. I contacted my host and they tried two restores (one of the manual) to no avail. The message that came up was something to the effect of "Premature end of script headers."

The other pages seem fine. He said I should check with you.

Is this due to the upgrade? I have no idea on how to fix this. Do you have any ideas for me?

Also, do you think this could be affecting my orders in any way?

Thanks.

A 500 Server Error message is just saying "hey, something went wrong" it doesn't really give you any hint as to what is wrong.

If your store was just upgraded it could be that the upgrade didn't complete successfully. If the restores they did were from before the upgrade it could be that you have a mix of old and new files and that would definitely cause problems.

It could be affecting ordering so you should try to place an order and make sure that it completes successfully.

Where is your store hosted?

I just placed an order and it went through just fine.

Yes, my store was recently upgraded. The restores were just done this evening; the Shopsite upgrade a couple weeks ago.

I guess I'm not sure what to do at this point or how to fix it. I would like to be able to change some wording on my invoice. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Issue was resolved.
I turned out to be that ShopSite flat shipping was in use and the first shipping option was deselected. The fix was to enable the shipping opton, give it the desired shipping name and configure the rates as needed.

As for the wording on invoices most of that is done on Preferences > Store text > shopping cart/checkout/messages/receipts etc. screens. The text at the top and bottom of the screen may be configured on Commerce Setup > Order System > Shopping Cart/Checkout/Confirmation/Thankyou etc in the fields "Text at the top of ..." or "Text at the bottom of ..."
