Paypal Express button layout problem

Postby dlundell » Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:31 pm

Hi,

I've just switched Paypal standard to Paypal Express, and am seeing a problem with the layout of the
Paypal Express button. The code is produces, which replaces the checkout button code, is as follows:

<table class ="google_button"><tr><td><div id="CBP_wrapper" style="position:relative; width:0px; height:0px"><span id="paypal_button" class="chk_button" style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px;"><input class="pay_expr_chkout" type="image" name="PayPal Express Checkout" alt="PayPal Express" src="http://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_xpressCheckoutsm.gif" height="42" width="145" onClick="return(CheckIt(88,0));" >
</span><span class="chk_button" style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px;">
<input type=image src="http://www.mystoreurl.com/store/ss_images/en-US/checkout.gif" class="button8" align="bottom" border="0" id="Check out" name="Check out" alt="Check out" title="Check out" tabindex="4" onClick="return(CheckIt(8,0));" >
</span></div></td></tr></table>

The checkout and Paypal Express buttons render on top of each other (notice the style/position statements).

I believe the code is opaque - that I don't have access to it in order to modify the layout.

Here's a screen shot of how it looks to the shopper:

Thoughts on how to fix it?

Thanks,

Have you tried adjusting the position of the buttons on the Commerce Setup > Payment screen? There is a box that displays all possible checkout buttons and allows you to drag them around so they don't get positioned on top of one another.

The only Payment Services option I have checked is Paypal Express. (We take credit cards of course,
which is what generates the Checkout button that the Paypal Expresso button lies on top of in the
screen shot above.) However, with only one Payment Services option enabled, there's no box generated
below the Checkout Button Positioning section.

If I also check, for example, Checkout by Amazon, a box appears, but it has only my blue Checkout button,
and the Amazon button (but no Paypal Express button).

Addtional ideas?

Thanks Jim.

In my ShopSite 12 store I was seeing the same thing as you did. I went to the payment config screen and enabled PayPal Standard and Amazon plus a gateway so I had multiple buttons and I could then arrange the buttons. I then saved changes and went back to the config screen and back to PayPal express config and made sure that the Display Express checkout button was checked. Once I did that the PayPal checkout button displayed in the arrange box along with the regular checkout button. I moved them around so they weren't on top of each other and saved changes. I then went to the cart and refreshed the screen and the paypal button didn't display so I emptied the cart and then added another product and the two buttons displayed side by side.

There was a major overhaul of the Payment Configuration screen for ShopSite 12 so I don't know if the same steps will work in ShopSite 11sp2 r2 that your store is running but you could give it a try.

You could also check with your hosting company about getting your store upgraded to ShopSite 12 which has been released for Freebsd now.
