We would like detailed tracking from start to finish. Anyone know of a
program that will do this with shopsite.

If you are content with 70-80% success, you can try Shopsite. We get 5-10
orders at a time, go the Reports, and run a Host Summary Report for the
period. We are using ShopSite Pro 6; each order has an IP address and
order time on it. We go to the report and scroll down to the IP address.
Note if ShopSite says any sales have occurred. If so click on the IP
address. The detailed report gives the website or search engine that the
customer came from as well as any search terms used. Also the path
through the site.

Limitations:
There must be a constant IP address. As others have pointed out before,
AOL, among some sites, changes the IP address as the customer is going
through the site so the technique does not work on it.
ShopSite is reading info from the log files. Sometimes (I've actually
reviewed the raw files to check) there is just no data on where the
customer came from (the referrer info).

I haven't heard of too many like that, one that might be able to do
that, though, is a package called SuperStats from a local company called
MyComputer.com (now part of Network Solutions, which is now part of
VeriSign). I think you can get more here:

I have never used it or seen it used in ShopSite, but from when I looked
at it once before, I think it consists of a block of JavaScript that you
would embed on every page, so should work just fine in ShopSite.

Another program is www.deepmetrix.com. Also need to realize at this point
with ShopSite you will not be able to track products added and dropped to
the cart with a least DeepMetrix and think probably the other programs is
because with DeepMetrix there is JavaScript associated with each product and
that cannot be added to the order.cgi right now. I had to write an order.api
in order to collect what products where bought. We've talk to ShopSite about
this.
