Meta Name Generator Tag

Our pages are set up as xhtml pages. The meta name generator tag that Shopsite places in the head section appears as <meta name="generator" content="ShopSite Pro 11 sp2 r5 (data - xtemplate)"> and produces an error. It should show as: <meta name="generator" content="ShopSite Pro 11 sp2 r5 (data - xtemplate)" /> with the space / at the end. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Is the error showing up on your store page or just when you run it through an html validation application?

ShopSite is designed to output html not xhtml so there are probably other places where closing /> are missing on other tags also. Normally this does not cause display problems just issues reported by validation applications.

There is no way to add the / at the end of that tag but you can remove the meta generator line from the published page following the steps in this post by Loren.
