V12 - add tracking number feature

Hi Folks,

I have V12 up in a test bed facility and have been trying to figure out how it handles tracking numbers in the orders management feature.

I must be missing something very obvious to others - so obvious that I can't fine the answer on how to get to the order management screen described in your help text below:

Screen: ShopSite > Orders > Order Management Order Management In addition to viewing order information, the Order Management screen allows you to track the status of an order, add notes to an order, provide tracking information to the customer, and resend receipts. Status This field lists the last six actions relevent to the order. It might include: when it was placed; when the shipping tracking number was sent; or when the receipt was resent. Merchant Notes This section allows merchants to leave notes on ....

I can not find an 'order management' button that allows me to manage orders.

I want to figure out how one gets tracking numbers into an order and then send a email to the customer.

What am I missing?

If you have a ShopSite Pro level store on the main Orders screen there will be a button "Manage an Order" at the top right of the list of orders. Clicking that button takes you to the screen where you can enter the tracking number.


The name of the button changed late in the development process so the documentation may have been written before the change. Where (url) did you find the text that you reference in your post? I'll have the documentation team look at it and make the changes necessary.

Hi Jim,

I thank you for the speedy reply.

I do see the 'manage an order' button on my ORDERS screen. When I select an order and push it I get a screen showing the order information (picture is here: http://keithdemo.keithspecialty.com/media/ss-manage-order-screen.jpg). But I do not see any place to add a tracking number. I can add a note about the order, but no place a tracking number.

It looks like there is no Shipping address for that order. I believe that for the Tracking number field to display there must be a shipping address, even if it is the same as the billing address. There must also be a shipping method selected for the order.

Note: you can configure some settings for the tracking emails, the link urls, etc from the Configure Orders button on the main Orders screen. Every shipping method selected, on Commerce Setup > Shipping, will have a field for the associated tracking url on the Orders > Configure Orders screen. The fields will be prefilled in for real-time shippers like UPS, USPS etc but you would need to fill it in for other shipping methods.
