Holiday logo not working

Postby Paula » Fri Nov 22, 2013 5:49 pm

I created a special holiday logo for my store. It's the same size as my current logo, but it doesn't fit - it pushes the page down. Do you have any thoughts on how I can get my holiday logo to fit? If not, I can hire Lauren Hills - she is fantastic.

Are you sure the image is the same size? What is the url to each of the images, independent from the page they are on?

How are you specifying the images to use? Are they original sized images or have they been resized when being uploaded to your store?

I am using the same re-sized version on both. The new logo is actually a little smaller than the original one.

Here are the URLs:

http://www.owlsandfriends.com/media/ss_size1/Owls_LogoB.jpg - this is the one currently on my site and working fine.
http://www.owlsandfriends.com/media/Logo_Santa_Wreath.jpg - this is holiday logo I would like to put on my site, but it's pushing everything down.

Thank you.

There are two things I can think of that might cause the problem.
1. Go to Images and select each image and click the Edit button. What is set for the "Image spacing:" Vertical and Horizontal? If the smaller one has more spacing that could cause the problem.
2. With the new image being smaller, maybe it is giving just enough room for something else to move up to the same level as the image and what ever moves up causes the page to shift enough to push other things down. Does something beside the image move up a bit when you switch images?

Thanks, Jim.

I tried inserting a new holiday logo, exact dimensions as the standards one. All the spacing parameters are exactly the same, as is the alignment. With both new logos, the page gets pushed down the exact same way. The free shipping on order.... link moves under the logo, and the top tab bar Home About Us, etc, gets pushed down.

It would be nice to have the holiday logo, but not crucial. So any other thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Where are you " inserting a new holiday logo,"? On the Preferences > Layout Settings > Images Company Logo field or Header Image field or Page Header and Footer > Header field, or somewhere else?

I saved a copy of the html for your home page and then edited it and replaced the logo Owls_LogoB.jpg with the Logo_Santa_Wreath.jpg and changed the height and width settings to match those of the new image. When I viewed that page there was no bad formatting of the header section. Because the Logo_Santa_Wreath.jpg is not as wide or tall as the Owls_LogoB.jpg there was a little more room under the santa logo image. This is caused by the Phone number being in a section that has a height of 130 px and the height of the image is only 103 px. So that leaves 27 px of white space between the logo and the menu bar. I am inserting the holiday logo under Preference > Layout Settings > Company Logo & URL.

When I insert the logo, it pushes the page way down, much more than how you have it. So I will have to make the new logo as tall as the old one. Got it. I will play around with it some more.

I also copied the current logo that works, renamed it, and reinserted it under the new name, but it still pushes the page down quite a bit.

Thanks for doing this.

Are you entering the full url for the image or are you selecting the image from the pulldown?

You might try using the other method and see if that work.
