disable check acct and route #

Like to know how I can disable the check acct and bank route number when a
customer chooses to pay by check since I don't have that service with my
merchant acct.

You can't remove these fields for the built-in Check option (although you can
re-label them). If you want a Check option that doesn't require any fields,
use one of the Generic Payment Options, which can be renamed in Preferences ->
Store Text -> Checkout. You could rename, for example, 'Generic Payment Option
1' to 'Payment by Check', and then remove the text for 'Generic Payment Option
1 Field' 1 through 4. Note that the Generic Payment Option Fields are the only
ones that can be removed by removing their text labels like this. You can
activate your new payment type in Commerce Setup -> Payment.
