product upload errros

Hi folks,

A few weeks ago, we migrated from a test shopsite system to our live system by using product download/upload feature. When we uploaded the product files, we encountered some errors due to some issues with page names. We corrected those issues manually by assigning the products to the correct pages.

However, today when we do update product prices using the upload feature, the upload works fine, but when it updates page and product links, we get the same error messages as we did from weeks ago. A sample of these are pasted below: How can we remove these error messages?

During your original upload records were created that indicated that certain product should be on pages that did not exist in the database. The names of the pages are listed in the error messages: e.g. The page "FW-sample" ... and The page ""Honeywell Parts All" ....

So a solution to fix the problem would be to simply create the pages that are listed , "FW-sample", "Honeywell Parts All" etc and then and then on the Utilities > Database > Upload and click the Update Links button. Then when you don't have any more errors you can delete those pages that you created. Note that the page names must be exactly the same as what the original upload contained.

You confirm what I was thinking. I had tried that, but had to go back and make sure I got the page names exactly the same. I found that some of the tricky parts are some page names started with a double quote (") and other had some non displayable character in between the page name and I had to use copy/past to get the name exactly the same. Tricky! But once, I got the decoder ring (your reply) it was easy.
