UPS charging too much

We are experiencing an odd problem.

We offer UPS and USPS shipping on our site. For some reason, UPS Ground is over-charging by around $3.00. We have all shipping rates figured based on product weight, plus a $1.80 handling charge. And the weight of the product in which this is happening is less than half a pound.

Oddly, the Priority Mail choice is adding 40 cents more than what our records here show it should cost.

There are many things that factor into the price that UPS returns to the shopping cart. Type of deliver - residence or business, Packaging, shipping dimensions, how the package gets to UPS from the merchant etc. MInimum package weight etc. Any of those things will affect the rate quotes the shoppers see. So make sure you have all of the settings on the Commerce Setup > Shipping > UPS configuration screen set properly and also make sure that the appropriate weight and packaging is set on the individual products.

Of course I'd already done all of that, Jim.

But I went back and looked at the only thing I hadn't tried changing. Under the UPS Configure there's a heading called UPS Delivery Type, with two choices: Residential or Commercial. Since all of our deliveries go to customer's homes we had Residential selected. I changed that to the Commercial setting and all of the rates dropped down to where they are supposed to be for residential deliveries.
