Customize Add to Cart Button from WP Plugin

Postby yukon4 » Thu Aug 29, 2013 5:37 pm

Hello there --

We are using the Shopsite Wordpress Plugin. It works great, installed no problem, cart appears to be working fine.

We would like to customize the "add to cart" that is generated by the WP plugin shortcode. The add to cart button appears to be different from the add to cart button that is pre-loaded in our "media" file.

Here is our Wordpress page where the cart comes into the picture:
http://rainmakerwildlife.com/algae-control-products/

Notice the "add to cart" button --- how can we change that to another, more colorful button that stands out better on the page?

Remember --- this is via the Wordpress plugin, and not the usual Shopsite product pages, if that makes any sense!

Thanks you!

Have you tried changing the settings for the Add to Cart button in Preferences -> Store Text -> Store Pages?

Yes, but will check again.

I suspect that the "add to cart" button generated by the Shopsite WP Plugin is DIFFERENT than any of the buttons in the "media" file. There is a perfectly good "add to cart" button in there, but THAT is not the one that displays on our page.

What happened to the wonderful telephone tech support from Shopsite? I used to phone them and a live person picked up, and we'd have these wonderfully enlightening conversations about Shopsite!

The add to cart button will be what is specified in the product template used for Wordpress. (Merchandising > Social Media > Wordpress > "Template to use on WordPress" near the bottom of the screen.
The default template is em_BasicLayout.sst and it contains this for the add to cart functionality.
Code: Select all
  [-- IF ADDIMAGE? --]
    <input class="add" type="image" [--ADDIMAGE--]>
  [-- ELSE --]
    <input class="add_text" type="submit" value="[-- ADDTEXT --]">
  [-- END_IF --]

So if an image is selected (and the radio button is set for Image) then the add to cart button for that product will be displayed. If the image radio button is not selected then the text for the add to cart setting will be used. The style "add" or "add_text" can be set to format how the image or text will display. For Pro level stores the image/text is set on a per product basis on the Products > Edit Product Layout screen. For Manager and Starter stores it is set globally for all products on Preferences > Store Text > Store Pages.

If you are using a different template it would be what ever is defined in that particular template.

OK --- I'm on that page now (social media > Wordpress) and see the various items you described, but there are NO radio buttons on this screen pertaining to images vs text, nor any obvious way of customizing the default Wordpress Plugin 'add to cart' button.

The option of whether the add to cart is an image or text is not specific to WordPress it is set in one of the two places I mentioned.
For Pro level stores the image/text is set on a per product basis on the Products > Edit Product Layout screen. For Manager and Starter stores it is set globally for all products on Preferences > Store Text > Store Pages.

OK --- I'll check those other areas. I was only looking in Shopsite, on the "Social Media > Wordpress" page. Thanks again!
