We need Coupons codes not showing on the order

Postby Ivan Santos » Tue Jul 09, 2013 8:07 am

Hi, in order to keep old prices to a customer group, we had to create several coupons, each one of them applying a different percentage discount according to a certain category of products. This list of coupons should apply automatically to this group of customers once they place the order, but we noted that now it shows a long list of coupons underneath the products, and it looks quite weird aesthetically. Is there a way to hide all the coupons that apply automatically to a group, and only show the final amount minus the discount?
Thank you

No, all coupons applied to the order will display as line items in the order.
This same thing happens at any store that I go to (on the web or brick and mortar store), the receipt will always show coupons in the list of line items.

Is there a way to merge all the different coupon discounts I want to offer to a specific customer group, into one single Coupon or coupon category? Also, the problem is that, even when you don't add to cart a product to which one of the coupons discount applies, it shows on the cart as Coupon not applied. So the customer may purchase just one of the products with coupon discount for that customer group, and get a list in the shopping cart of one Coupon Applied(and the discount amount) and 5 Coupons not Applied with no discount amount at all, since they apply to other products not purchased this time.

No.
You could create a new coupon that has the combined affects of several coupons but that may be difficult if you are applying different discounts to different items.

In fact I am happy with the way it works, the only thing I would need it's to get rid of the 4 or 5 Coupons Not Applied list on the shopping cart, when no product assigned to them is purchased...
What if I forget about the list of coupons applying to a customer group, and instead have a different list of prices for that customer group, so that we avoid a list of coupons on the SHopping Cart? That way, when they log in and try to purchase a specific product, they get it at the old price, not the one currently showing on SHop site. Is that possible?

Products will always be added to the cart at the current price. If a shopper tries to checkout with a product that was added to the cart before the price change they will be alerted that the price has changed. (This was added in 11sp2 or 11sp1, I think). So the only way to keep old prices for some shoppers would be to have separate products with the old price (without using a coupon for a discount). This could be done by having a separate set of pages (and products with the old price) and having the shopper go to those pages instead of new pages. If you do this you might want to password protect the directory so they need to login in order to get to the pages or any shopper will be able to get to the old pages from a search results page.

It sounds good, but also a little complicated. I will discuss it with my IT guy. Thank you!
