Product reviews not appearing on more information page

Hello

I am trying to enable Product Reviews so the rating stars and the review will appear on the product more information page. It seems emails are going out to customers, and reviews are being written, they are being automatically approved, but the reviews themselves are not appearing anywhere. No information about reviews being enabled is appearing anywhere with the store. No star ratings. No review. Nothing.

I am running ShopSite Pro v11 Sp2 r3.

Can anyone help me as to why the reviews are not appearing?

Are you publishing your store on a regular basis? Since the pages are static html they will not automatically be updated with the review information, you need to publish for that to happen. (Utilities > Publish > Regenerate).

You must also be using a product template that has the template tags for the reviews functionality in both the
[-- DEFINE PRODUCT --] and [-- DEFINE MORE_INFO_PAGE --] sections.

Hello Jim,

I used both publish and regenerate and still no reviews.

The store is using the "default product template" and when I go to

ShopSite > Merchandising Tools > Custom Templates

It says:

Product Templates

(No Product Templates Found)

The "default product template" is an old template that does not use the custom template language so it does not have the Product Reviews functionality.

If you want a template that looks similar to that one select the "DefaultCustomProductTemplate". In a Pro level store you can change all of the product templates at once by using the Power edit feature. Select all the products click the Power edit button, Then select the Template field in the right column and click the Global radio button and then click Proceed. A screen will display with just the Template pulldown, so select the "DefaultCustomProductTemplate" from the list and click Save Changes. Now click the Publish tab or Utilities > Publish > Regenerate and the reviews information should display on the generated pages.

Note: any time you do a Power edit it would be a good idea to backup your data first by going to Utilites > Database > Backup and choose the Main Database and click Proceed. Then if you need to get back to the previous version you can restore the backup.

I switched to the "DefaultCustomProductTemplate" on a global basis. All went fine. The "star rating" is now appearing with the products on the product page. And the reviews are appearing on the More Information Page. However, the reviews appear after the footer on the More Information page and are floating all across the screen, well off the constructed HTML page. In other shopsite stores I have seen the reviews appear pn the more information page right under the order button. What template or CSS controls how the reviews are published on the More Information page. I can send you a private link to the page so you can see what is happening if that helps?

Send me a PM (link on right side of post) with the link to your page.
Have you tried viewing the page in different browsers, IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari to see if it might be a browser issue?
The page template may also affect some layout setting of the moreinfo pages because it could be setting VAR values used in the product template.
Also if you have html in any text field that displays on the page, include the global header and footer (Preferences > Layout Settings ) it could cause display issues if the html has errors in it.

I tested in Chrome, Safari and Explorer. The reviews display incorrectly in all of them. Will send PM with links and html.

It looks like it is some bad html code in the footer that is causing the display issue. He turned the footer off on moreinfo pages and the pages display properly. He will debug the footer and see if he can fix the offending code.
