Strange Calculations in USPS Shipping

Postby circlekstrings » Tue Apr 09, 2013 3:20 pm

Hello everyone!
Have an odd situation / question (and im sure Jim will have a magic wand answer as he always does  )

when i run a test order from Colorado, using Australia and zip code 3216 i get a rate for priority of $39.95, but it SHOULD be $23.95 (flat rate envelope)

and when our customer IN Australia runs the same order it is over $70

Can anyone (Jim :D ) give me some guidance as to where to look to trouble shoot this issue?

Notes:
All product weights are 0.01
USPS is configured and working for all other areas/countries - errors only in Australia
Shopsite pro - current revision ShopSite® Pro 11 sp2 r4,

so any suggestions would be very helpful!

What do you have selected as the USPS Shipping Container: for the product? Products > Edit Product Info in the section Shipping and Download Information. What other options do you have configured in that same area.
What shipping options do you have selected on the Commerce Setup > Shipping > USPS > Configure screen?
Do you have Australia selected as a country you will ship to on Commerce Setup > States and Country

Hi Jim, and thanks for responding....

USPS shipping container for all products is null -
Other configured options:
Weight: 0.01lbs (its a guitar string for petes sake  )
Fedex COntainer: (null)
USPS Container: null
nothing else is configured

Commerce Setup > Shipping > USPS > Configure -->
checked:
Priority Mail
Express Mail
Express Mail International
Priority Mail International

Max weight 10lbs
minimum order weight = 0.01

and Australia is selected..

Im guessing I need to set all the shipping containers  ..

Thanks for your help Jim.. you are the man and your time is much appreciated

Yes you probably need to set package type for the products. Try if for that one product and see if that fixes the problem if it does then you know you need to do it for the others also.
Note: When a package type if configured for a product each item will have the shipping calculated individually. So shipping 10 things will cost 10 times the price of one. If the package type isn't configure items will be lumped into a single package up to the maximum package weight that you set for the shipping carrier.
