Google Finding Non-Existent Pages

Postby lbohen » Sat Mar 09, 2013 11:10 am

GWT is finding and reporting as crawl errors several pages which are no longer existing that have "-ss" in the html address. "-ss" occurs as part of the page numbering when there are multiple pages in the same category. Occasionally the number of pages is reduced because an audio books have gone out of publication (OOP). The OOP page is 301 directed to our OOP page. For example http://www.audiobooksonline.com/0609603957.html is being 301 directed to http://www.audiobooksonline.com/out-of-publication-audio-books-book-audiobook-audiobooks.html.

How do I get rid of the page that Google is finding?

I don't think pagination pages are removed if the number of pages is reduced. However,There shouldn't be links to any page that isn't currently in the list of paginated pages so I don't know why they would be finding them. Probably the only way to get rid of them is to go to your html directory and delete them. Since they will a a consistent naming structure you could just delete all pages that have the "-ss" in the name. Then republish the store and the appropriate new pages will be recreated.
