Issue with buyanywhere - Opera mini

Postby FredW » Mon Feb 18, 2013 12:45 pm

Wondering if you could shed some light on a problem I encountered using Opera Mini on my mobile phone. This is not yet a high priority problem.

I was testing our website that uses buyanywhere buttons and found that no matter which item I put into the cart, the last item on that page gets put into the shopping cart.

The testing was done using Opera Mini version 7.0.3 running an Android Droidx.

The webpage I was testing is: is http://keithspecialty.com/hvac.oil_burner.nozzles.htm <- This page uses buyanywhere buttons.

This ShopSite generated page lists the same items and it works find using Opera Mini on the same phone: http://keithspecialty.com/store/oil-nozzles.htm

The default browser for the Droidx works fine.

I'm trying to determine if it is html issue, ShopSite issue or Opera Mini issue.
Thanks in advance,
Fred

Fred, there are a lot of add to cart forms on that page. My guess would be that there is a missing /form tag on the page. Some browsers will fix HTML issues like that when they load the page, other browsers do not.

Hello Lauren,

Thanks for the reply.

There is a page that has fewer products on it and only one Form /Form combination. May I ask you to look at this page? It also has the same issue.

Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to provide that info in my earlier reply.

http://keithspecialty.com/hvac.humidifiers.htm

Again, I will point out that this is NOT a urgent issue for us. I suspect very few of our customers use Opera Mini on an android smart phone to view our website. I suspect they will view it in mobile mode instead.

I'm just pointing it out to see if you can help identify if it is an Opera Mini issue, our html issue or a bug in ShopSite.

Thanks

I think this must be a problem with the Opera Mini. I was able to add an item to the cart but it always got the first one on the page and only added 1 instead of the quantity I entered.

I also tried it using Firefox on my phone and that did add the item I selected and the quantity that I entered. I did note in Firefox that the navigation buttons float on the screen depending on where I scrolled. When I zoomed the text the navigation often overlaid the text and input fields making it very difficult to get the order placed. I personally think it would be better to have fixed navigation on a mobile page than one that floats around and overlays other page content.

Perhaps the navigation buttons code that is allowing the navigation to float on the screen is what is causing the problem on Opera mini since the navigation didn't float around on the page like it did in Firefox.

Thanks Jim,

I suspect it is a Oper Mini as well. Maybe it has something to do with the floating navigation section. Since we are replacing this site with ShopSite generated pages, I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks for looking into it.

Thought I should update this post.

My recent test of Opera (version 15.0.1162.61541) on my Samsung Galaxy S III shows this is not a problem with this browser/phone.

I'll retest on my Droidx and post an update later.

Thanks

Update:
A retest on my DroidX using Opera Mini shows the problem still exists. On our website that uses buyanyhere buttons, no matter what product you add to the cart, it adds the last one on the page.

We'll just take a non-support position with Opera Mini.
