Can I create a page and then limit who has access?

Postby mhcscwm » Sun Jan 13, 2013 8:44 am

So sorry if the answer is already here but I cannot find it or any similar questions.

website is mousehouseconcierge.com or caseofwater.com

We sell and deliver stuff to Walt Disney World guests. We also have a whole line of items that we will deliver to guests from their travel agent. I don't want the general public to have access to this Travel Agents only page, I only want travel agents to have access. Is there a way to limit access to a specific page by way of a login?

I know I can limit access by registration but that doesn't really work for my purposes.

Thank you!

Thank you.

I created a subdirectory called "travelagents" under "store" in File Manager and put a test page in the directory. Need guidance on where and how to setup "appropriate permissions and ownerships including setting up password protections" as noted in the above link.

There are a number of ways that passwording a directory can be done depending on what OS the store is on and how that server is configured. On most unix type systems you set up a .htaccess and .htpasswd files that control access. You should talk to your websites server support for exactly how to do it in their configuration.

getting closer.

I created the directory, password protected it, but now my products that are assigned to that page don't show up.

Is the page being created? You need to specify the directory and file name in the filename field of the page like this mydirectory/filename, there should be no initial / before the directory name. Note that ShopSite will not create a directory, only files in the directory. It also cannot create files in the directory if the directory has incorrect permissions. So make sure the directory already exists, that you have the full directory/filename in the page filename field and that the directory has the appropriate permissions, (same as other directories / files that ShopSite can access)

Usually if the file can't be created there will be be an error on the publish screen.
