Only downloads for foreign orders?

Postby gkrehbiel » Tue Nov 13, 2012 12:21 pm

Is there a way for me to set Shopsite so that we only take orders for physical products from the United States, and that all international orders have to be downloads?

I'm running ShopSite® Pro 10 sp2 r2

Thanks,

Greg

There is no built in way to limit where products may be purchased. You might be able to add some custom javascript to the shopping cart and check if a product is a download product and if not and the country is non US then put up a message and don't let them checkout.

Thanks. As a quick and dirty fix, how would I add text just below the country field? I'm assuming I have to edit the shopping cart template, but I don't see any clear reference to where it pulls in the country field.

The content in the Shopping cart for the Shipping country, zip etc is all output by a single template tag. So it might not be easy to put the text exactly where you want it. The text for the Ship to Zip/Postal Code, Ship to Country and Shipping are all configured on Preferences >Store Text > Shopping Cart. You might also consider adding your message to the "Any changes above should be verified by pressing 'Recalculate' before clicking on " (on the same config screen) which is usually fairly prominently displayed on the Shopping cart screen.
