Checkout page doesn't render properly IE8

I'm using the Multi-Use-Page-Left.sst theme and the Checkout page doesn't render properly (only in IE8, it's fine in Chrome and FF). The lower half of the page background color is the same as the text color making the text "invisible". My page default background color is white and my text is #141923. I've changed the background color for the page defaults and the individual pages to white. That seems to work fine until I get to the checkout page, then it goes back to the original background color of this theme which is #141923. Any help would be appreciated.

When I check your store in IE8, I can see what you are describing for the last text section on the page, the checkbox to "Add me to your E-mail list" text. What I would suggest trying is under Commerce Setup > Order System > Checkout (and also for Thank You), adding <div style="clear: both;"></div> in the "Text at the bottom of the Shipping Screen" text field and see if that fixes the problem.

One other thing I noticed that you might want to change, for tax, you have the default "I live outside the merchant's home state" etc. Customers may not necessarily know where the "merchant's home state" is. I would suggest changing this text under Commerce Setup > Tax > Configure.

Thanks Lauren. I tried your suggestion and unfortunately that didn't have any affect. I'm still puzzled.
I did make the suggested Tax changes. Thanks for the suggestion.
