database upload - subproducts field append not replace

Hello folks,

In trying to find a way to assign subproducts that will work for us, I was testing uploading a data file with the parent product and assign the subproducts by listing them in the subproduct field. What I found is that the database upload appends the products that I have listed in the subproduct field not replaces them. I find this behavior strange since I can't find any user interface screen to do that. When I assign subproducts using the Advance editing function, there is no way to append subproducts, it replaces all those previously assigned with those you select.

I also tried to upload the parent product with no subproducts listed in that field in expectation that it would unassign or clear all subproducts. Didn't do that as well. So how does one unassign or clear all subproducts in a database upload?

Just trying to find some way that will work for us. I am using dummy product as headers and the subproducts associated with them change enough that we need a easy to edit them.

The upload functionality is additive only and will not remove assigned subproducts. To remove them you need to do it from the back office of the store.
