Product Reviews Alignment

Postby Paula » Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:43 pm

Love the new product reviews feature. The only thing is that on some of my More Info pages, the Write a Review that appears at the bottom is center-aligned. I like them left-aligned, which is how most of them are. Any ideas on why this may be happening on some of my pages?

What is the URL to one of those pages where I can see that?

This is correct, and how I like it: http://www.owlsandfriends.com/Colorful_Owl_Wallet.html
This one is aligned center and would like for it to be aligned left like the one above: http://www.owlsandfriends.com/Zarah_Zebra_Earrings.html

Thanks.

NOTE: This comment is not about the alignment but about the shifting of the display on http://www.owlsandfriends.com/Colorful_Owl_Wallet.html caused by the different size moreinfo images.

You can fix the issue in 2 ways, 1. make sure all images are the same dimensions or 2. Go to Preferences > More Info Pages and set the Use Image box size: values to the slightly larger than the largest image you will use. On the above page the largest image dimension is 350 high and 350 wide. So if you make the dimensions of the box 355 or 360 for both height and width then those images will fit in the box and the display won't jump around when you move the cursor over the thumbnail images.

I thought that it was the image sizes at first too, but the image is in a table, and the "reviews" is in an h3, and neither one wraps. It is because the page is set to align center.

Where do I need to change the alignment? I went to Page Layout and changed Item Alignment to left-centered, but it didn't do anything. I don't see options under power edit, either.

Go to Products > Edit Product Layout, and look at the image alignment setting.

Yes, I had looked at that, and on the item where the review is centered, the image alignment is left-centered. Could something else be causing this problem?

What do you mean that the image alignment is "left-centered?"

You could just add the CSS I mentioned above into the header field to fix the issue.

I guess I'm not seeing the CSS you are referring to. I believe you mentioned CSS on a different post...

You are right. I remember writing it but I can't find where it got posted :(.... it was something like adding the following line of code in your Preferences > Layout Info > Header field, above the </style> line:

td#mu-center-part, td#mu-center-part h3 {text-align: left;}

That seems to have done the trick. Thank you.

My Facebook icons take some time to load now. Do you think this has anything to do with the code I put in to fix the Reviews alignment, or totally unrelated?

The reviews alignment CSS in the header shouldn't slow the page at all, it is just like adding text onto your page.
