Order page doesn't work in Chrome

Postby CarolA » Sun Aug 12, 2012 9:00 am

I know we are supposed to contact our hosting provider if we are having issues. But I'm not waiting 30 minutes on hold with Verio just to report this issue, so hopefully someone at ShopSite will read this. If I use Chrome, and click on "Orders", I just get a blank page. I've cleared cache, cookies and everything I can. I've tried on two different computers with the same result.

Ordoro has the same problem as they cannot access our ShopSite orders using Chrome either. IE8 works just fine. Ordoro asked me to report this problem to you. It's been happening since August 2 at least. I just use IE8 if I need to access orders, so there's a work-around.

I'm using ShopSite Pro V 11 SP1.

Thanks.

Works fine for me in Google Chrome using ShopSite 11sp1 r2.3.

What is the exact version number you see in the footer of the page you see when you click on the ShopSite at the top left of the navigation bar?

How many orders do you have? Do any of them have oddball characters, accents, umlauts ~ etc on letters, in the shopper name or address?

Is your secure certificate valid? When I first go to a site if there is a problem with the certificate Chrome asks if I want to access the site or not, If I say "no" then the site is blocked and can't be loaded.

ShopSite® Pro 11 sp1 r2

I'm not sure how to answer "how many orders we have". Thousands. We have been using ShopSite for years. So, I would need to know what timeframe you are asking about. I can view orders without any issues using IE8.

We use Verio "securesites.com" for the certificate. I get no security warnings in Google Chrome - just a completely blank page. I get no warnings with IE.

Thanks.

You said it has been happening with Chrome "at least since Aug 2", I assume that be for that time it did work?

If it was working until about Aug 2, what has changed since then?
Was your store upgraded,
patches applied,
moved to a different server,
changes made on the Preferences > Hosting services secure settings,
etc.?

Did the Verio certificate just get renewed?

What is the URL to your store pages where we can add a product to the shopping cart.

I know several of the developers use Chrome as their main browser and they have not mentioned any issues like this, so it isn't a general problem, just something on your site.

Thanks Jim.

In Chrome, I'm not getting errors, but when I try to access Orders, there is a shield on the right side of the address line that when you hover, says "this page has insecure content". I do not get that shield on any other administrator functionality and the rest works okay. So, it does appear to be security/certificate related as that is the only page accessing https... If I click the shield, and click "load anyway", the order page content appears. Although again, no messages or errors using Internet Explorer.

An example of a store page is http://www.kneeshorts.com/men.html. I do notice that in Chrome on the checkout page, the shield appears there too. When I click "load anyway" I'm not seeing anything change in the page, but it strikes out https. Not good.

It does sound like the next step is to contact Verio. Perhaps they did do something with the certificate?
Thanks for your help.

Well, I spent 50 minutes and called 3 different phone numbers talking to people at Verio. They say there is nothing wrong with their certificate, they have made no changes, and that "ShopSite does not offically support Chrome". Since it is working fine in IE, they say we just tell people not to use Chrome, and for us not to use Chrome when using the admin functions. Although the last technical support person I talked to said that occasionally they have seen people have issues using their shared certificate and if we buy our own and install it, perhaps that would resolve the issue. Although It's worked fine in Chrome for years. :-(

Hello,

On your checkout page, you have 4 insecure calls:
---
Insecure URL: http://www.kneeshorts.com/shopsite-images/en-US/javascript/iframe_popout.js
Found in: https://kneeshorts.securesites.com/cgi-bin/sc/billing.cgi?storeid=*16fcefdec18b607907a8b54f92&fromid=order.cgi&redirect=yes&shopinfo=SSMSB1344869395.46642

Insecure URL: http://www.kneeshorts.com/media/images/weblogo.gif
Found in: https://kneeshorts.securesites.com/cgi-bin/sc/billing.cgi?storeid=*16fcefdec18b607907a8b54f92&fromid=order.cgi&redirect=yes&shopinfo=SSMSB1344869395.46642

Insecure URL: http://www.kneeshorts.com/media/images/returntobag.gif
Found in: https://kneeshorts.securesites.com/cgi-bin/sc/billing.cgi?storeid=*16fcefdec18b607907a8b54f92&fromid=order.cgi&redirect=yes&shopinfo=SSMSB1344869395.46642

Insecure URL: http://www.kneeshorts.com/media/images/submitorder.gif
Found in: https://kneeshorts.securesites.com/cgi-bin/sc/billing.cgi?storeid=*16fcefdec18b607907a8b54f92&fromid=order.cgi&redirect=yes&shopinfo=SSMSB1344869395.46642
---

You will want to make sure all image/js/css calls are via your secure URL.

The certificate itself checks out ok, although it is set to allow a lower grade encryption which is not advisable, and is a PCI vulnerability. You can check this at:
http://www.networking4all.com/en/support/tools/site+check/report/?fqdn=kneeshorts.securesites.com&protocol=https

I would see if you can upgrade your store to the latest 11 SP2 r3 release, and then work on making your checkout buttons secure calls.

Thanks so much Rob. I thought I had those images in the secure directory. I'll check that out.

I'll ask Verio about the upgrade to SP2 R3. Fixing the checkout page images doesn't solve our problem of accessing our Orders in ShopSite Admin using Chrome. I assume it's Verio that's setting the certificate to allow lower grade encryption? Do you think that's what's blocking Chrome from showing our Orders?

I do not think this would cause an issue in Chrome when viewing orders. It is a setting that Verio would need to correct though as your host.

Hello CarolA,

I encountered a problem using Chrome for ShopSite access when I had certain other web sites opened in another tab. I'm not sure this is your issue, but wondered if you tried using Chrome with no other tabs opened to websites.

I find FireFox works for me best.

Also, I found Verio does not have the expertise in ShopSite that I needed to get me up and running. I found LexiConn to be very helpful. Don't know if you want to switch host providers, but you may find it much to your advantage in the area of support.

Just my input.
Good luck

Thanks Fred. I don't think we had other tabs open, but I'll check to make sure. I've heard good things about Lexiconn too - thanks for the referral. Unfortunately, Verio had nothing to offer other than we could try purchasing our own certificate instead of using theirs. It's just that we've been running this way for 12 years with them with no issues, and using Chrome for years as our browser, with no issues until this month. I am going to try to load Firefox and see if that works.
