Discount issue

Postby Ivan Santos » Fri Aug 17, 2012 1:28 pm

Hello, here I am again.
I am thinking about creating a promotion where, when a customer buys 2 specific items, he gets 50% discount on a third item. And I have NO idea how to create this discount on the Shop site. Could I have any suggestions??
Thank you very much!

Ivan,

With the ShopSite Pro there are only three options for discounts/promotions which involve specific products. There are currently not any which will do exactly what you want out of the box, but I will explain the features below:

The first is our discounts feature. This allows you to setup quantity pricing discount groups where you can specify how much each product (referred to as units for quantity pricing) within the group will cost based on the number of units you purchase. So, for example, 1-5 units would be $4 per unit, 6-10 units would be $3 per unit, and so on. You specify what products are in each group.

The second is the rewards feature. It operates on the "buy x amt of products get one free." Again, you can specify what products are in the qualifying group and what products are in the rewards group. You can also tell ShopSite how many of the qualifying group must be purchased in order for the reward to take affect.

The third is the coupon feature. Coupons can be set to apply only to a specific product or products; however, the only qualifying criteria ShopSite has for applying the coupon is if you specify the minimum cost or quantity of items in the cart. It is unable to look for specific qualifying products.

So what merchants will often do in cases like yours is create a bundle where all three products and their prices are already calculated in to one product which the customer adds to the cart.

SO, what you mean on yor last sentence, is that I should create a new product that would bundle
the 3 items into one, right? this would require a new SKU number for this item

Yes. I was referring to having one product with its own SKU/price which already has all three products included in it.
