Order Size Option Not Appearing in Shopping Cart

I use OrderAnywhere with my site and have some items that the customer needs to select a size from a drop down menu on the product page before adding the item to the cart. I set up the drop down menu in the ordering options section of the edit product info page in the back office. When a size is selected and added to the cart a line shows up under the product but there is no text in the line? It should list the size. Thanks for your help in advance. Jay

Most Order Anywhere links are just <a href="... > links to add the item to the cart. If you want to have order options, quantity, comments on the page and have those added to the cart the Add to cart must be in a form with the option, quantity, comment etc as input items to the form.

If you have a product with order options, go to the Edit Product Layout screen and check the box "Display Ordering Options:". Then when you go to the Merchandising > Order Anywhere screen the full form with the field for adding the selected order option included will be in the html for the Order Anywhere link. (for a quantity input field check the "Display Order Quantity:" box on the Edit Product layout screen)

Hi Jim,

I have done all of that. The problem is when the item is added to the cart the line added under the product is blank. I would like it to show the size selected (small, Large, X-Large). Just like your example with the hammer: http://shopsite.com/orderanywhere.html - Black Handle or Orange Handle shows under the product in the cart. I can include the link to my product? Thanks, Jay

It must be something that you have left out of your form. (Or you have a Starter level store which doesn't allow that functionality). Please provide a link to the page so we can see how it is configured.

Sorry for the delay in getting back on this.

When I add an item to the cart I get this message.
"Budweiser Red Eagle Vintage T Shirt" has product options which do not match what is in the database. "

The options in your Order Anywhere links must match what is configured for the product. This is a security measure for your protection. If you allow options that are not in the the database a shopper could save a copy of the order anywhere code, modify the code to change the option price. They could then add the item to the cart and checkout with out you knowing it has happened.

If you really want to allow options for products in your Order Anywhere links that do not exist in the ShopSite products database go to Commerce Setup > Order System and check the box "Ordering Options can be defined outside of ShopSite"

Thanks for the reply all is working now. I have a few hundred items like this with sizes. Is there a faster way to do this.
Maybe via a spread sheet and uploading it somehow? Thanks, Jay

You can upload your pages and products (in a Pro or Manager level store) Under Utilities > DataBase > Upload. The easiest way to get the appropriate format for the upload is to download a product and see how it is formatted. Depending on if you use regular order options or Advanced there is a big difference in how it is formatted. There is also info in the online help about the formatting.
