pricing in foreign currency

Postby jimdill » Mon Jun 25, 2012 5:31 am

My site is set up with dollars as primary currency. I am about to release a product for the British audience. I would like to display a fixed price for that in British pounds, so the UK user pays that amount in pounds and we collect whatever number of dollars it converts to at the time. Is there a way to rig this up?

Under Preferences--Locale, you can set up a secondary currency for display. The billing will always be in the primary store currency, though.

Thanks for the response. I saw that secondary currency, but it seems to apply only in product pages, not on the shopping cart or checkout page, isn't that right? I don't have product pages, I use OrderAnywhere.

That is correct. Only 1 (primary) currency is allowed in the cart.

I suspect, if you are on SS11 SP2 that the iframe Order Anywhere option would allow the secondary currency display on product pages.

Another option I found awhile ago for displaying alternate currency is:

DynamicConverter.com

(Thanks Lexiconn).

This would allow you to display alternate currencies automatically on any page with just a small, free script. You could even add it in the cart, in theory, though that may cause confusion, since the final billing would still always be in Shopsite's primary currency.

Ok, thanks. Thanks for the tip on the converter too. I already poked around and found a few of those: GoCurrency, XE, Fxware. That's the solution I am planning to use unless someone comes up with a magic ShopSite idea.
