Problem sending e-mail receipt after update to Version 6.2.1

Postby Thomas Barbian » Wed Jan 15, 2003 5:14 am

We made an update to 6.2.1 an since this time every customer receives an
error message like the following:

There was an error sending your email receipt.
However, your order has been processed correctly.
Your order number is -.
Please warn your merchant that you did not receive your receipt via
email.

If I check the preferences for the hosting service, I find that there is
a field SMTP host (set to "localhost") instead of path to sendmail. How
can I get shopsite configured again to use sendmail instead of SMTP?

Thanks

Thomas

We just upgraded to 6.2 on a BSD server and are having similar problems. Our
host is Webex and after several emails and various attempts they got it
working again. The upgrade was Thursday. The problem surfaced seconds later.
They fixed it Friday afternoon. The problem came back this afternoon. What
is going on with 6.2? We are no longer receiving emails and I must again
assume our clients are again receiving that error code.

I received the following solution via e-mail:

Thomas,
In order to get a standard code base for ShopSite Unix and Windows systems
we now include a mail application in the ShopSite code. All that is
required now is the location of an SMTP host (which was also required by
sendmail previously). The default value is set to "localhost" which should
be fine on most systems but evidently isn't for yours. You can change the
smtp host by editing the <storeid>.aa file in the ShopSite cgi directory (ss
or bo in most cases) and change the token

smtp_host: localhost

to point to where your smtp host is located.
