Buy one get one free coupon code

Hello, is there a way to create a general coupon code which gives an item free when purchasing the same item?
I mean, it would be a "buy one and get one for free", only for specifics items.

Coupons can either have a discount % or a specific discount amount. They cannot have a product as the discount.
So the way you would do it would be to create a coupon for each specific product that you want to have the offer on and set it so the discount is 50% off with a minimum of 2 products and only allow one product per redeemed coupon.

Sorry, but that's very limited for what we wanted to do, becasue we don't want to limit it to one product per coupon. I thought it would be easier to have this "Buy one get one free" coupon, in fact it's a very common promotion, you can see everywhere on stores... Very dissapointing.

Then use the rewards feature which was designed for that type of situation. Create a reward category that has the same product as the qualifier and the reward. When the shopper adds the item to the cart a message says that they qualify for the reward and a link to click on to select the reward. They click that link and add the reward item to the cart and the price for it will be 0.

sorry, but I have read your comment twice and it's not exactly what we wanted. We don't want to reward ALL the customers with that "buy one get one free" promotion, only some special ones, that's why we wanted to create a coupon for these kind of customers. My understanding is that the reward category applies to all the customers in general, right?

Yes the reward would be for all customers. However, you could create a special page that is not linked to any other pages on your store and put the reward products and qualifying products on that page. Then provide a link to that page for your special customers that you want to get the 2 for 1.

I understand, but this way they could not continue shopping in case they would want to purchase other items that are not included on the reward...

Explain how it will be used and how merchants and shoppers would benefit from the feature.
