customer registration page problem

Postby FredW » Thu May 24, 2012 9:33 am

Hello Fellow ShopSite members,

I just turned on customer registration again to do some testing and found the page to register is not loading correctly. (The navigation at the top is not correct.) This looks similar to a problem I had with other pages was diagnosed as a ShopSite install problem that Verio corrected. However, this time, I'm not able to easily find the cause of this problem.

The url is: https://kei73.securesites.net/cgi-bin/sc/registration.cgi?func=2&storeid=*12005eff1b06017c681089&fromid=order.cgi&sbid=SSMSB1337622514.9602

Do I have an install issue again or did I do something wrong?

Thanks
Fred

First, when I go to that URL my Firefox browser gives me a security error, the details are:

===========================================
kei73.securesites.net uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for keithspecialty.com
===========================================

I allow an exception for this and the page loads, and I can see what you mean. If I view the source, I see a CSS stylesheet is included with the following URL:

https://kei73,securesites.net/publish/sleek.css

Note the , (comma) in the URL where a . (period) should be. This is likely a problem in the 'Secure Store URL' setting in your Preferences -> Hosting Service menu. You likely have this URL there:

https://kei73,securesites.net

But it should be this:

https://kei73.securesites.net/store

Try changing that, then regenerate the store from Utilities -> Publish and see if that helps.

Loren,

Thanks for the speedy reply and the attention to details.

The security certificate error is due to the fact I'm running a temp url and the SSL certification is for our real url. I will go away when we migrate our real url to the host where our temp url name and shopsite is.

Thanks for finding my error, I corrected it, republished it, refreshed my browser window and got the same error, even thought the source shows the comma changed to a period.

I then went to the "configure customer registration" screen and selected a different registration template (don't know why SS does not use the themes template?), I tried three other templates and they all displayed fine. I changed the selection back to: Sleek-cr.sst and got the same error.

BTW, you do not 'publish' your site to get the changes from changing the customer registration page, you only need to save it and refresh your browser. Also, It is not a browser sensitive, for is wrong in IE, Firefox and Chrome

I'm concluding it is an issue with the specific selection. For now, I can move on by selecting another template, but I think there is a problem here that needs understood. issue,

For now, I left the page with the error in it so you can look at the source.

Thanks
Fred

The URL for that .css file is still:

https://kei73.securesites.net/publish/sleek.css

So the comma has been changed to a period in the 'Secure Store URL' setting, but it probably also needs the /store directory at the end of it, as I suggested before.
