How do I find my API URL?

I'm trying to set up a custom program that will download orders from ShopSite and I need the API URL to accomplish this task.
I called my hosting service and they would not help.

What version of ShopSite are you using?
Where is your store hosted? Some hosts may not allow remote access to download.
Have you looked in the online help at the Automatic XML Orders Download page? For ShopSite 11sp1 it is http://www.shopsite.com/help/11.1/en-US/sc/pro/orders.download.format.xml-auto.html

For other versions click on the red ? button in the backoffice and search for "Automatic XML" and it should give you links to the appropriate pages.

I looked at the FAQS, but to me it just gave examples of how to retrieve the info, but not where to log in to the API.

The following example demonstrates a typical URL used to invoke one of the scripts:

http://mystore.domain/cgi-path/db_xml.cgi?clientApp=1&dbname=products&fieldmap=inventory

In the example above, mystore.domain represents the domain name of the store, and cgi-path is the path to the ShopSite back-office CGI directory. In this example, we are using the db_xml.cgi program

So you would specify the same url that you use to get to the backoffice of your store only you change the name of the cgi that is called from something like start.cgi or pages.cgi etc to db_xml.cgi
