UPS Address Validation

I am using Shopsite 11 sp1 r2

When I set up UPS there is a radio button that says "UPS Address Validation"

When this is clicked and a bogus zip code is entered a message appears and the
shopping cart won't progress to checkout.

The problem is with APO zip codes. It won't allow even USPS to be used because
we can't progress to checkout.

Is this normal, or do I have done something unfortunate?

You mention both UPS and USPS are you using both of them?
The UPS address validation is just of zip city and state, and is only for US address.
If you are having a problem have you clicked the Display Error Details checkbox to see what the error details are?
I believe that UPS does not ship to APO addresses so that should always give you an error.

USPS should deliver to APO addresses but if you have enable the USPS address validation that may not work for APO addresses.
Also if you have tax by Zip enabled you may need to add the APO zipcode to the tax table. Note that some payment gateways may not allow payment from APO addresses.

If it isn't working the way you expect, try unchecking the option and see if it works then. Note that once you have invalid data in your shopping cart you will probably need to use the Empty Cart button to clear out the cart so you can get valid data again.

Yes, both UPS and USPS are enabled.

When an APO zip code is entered, UPS sends an error.

I should still be able to select USPS, but I can't.

I'm having the same problem. When enabling the UPS shipment option it blocked all our customers from shipping to military APO addresses by the US Postal Service (USPS).

For example, we have a customer trying to ship to an APO address with a 96204 zip code. The USPS knows how to handle this address but UPS does not deliver to APOs so it kicks back an error message saying, "UPS Shipping: The requested service is unavailable between the selected locations.
Please check if the Zip/Postal Code has been entered incorrectly."

The dialog box will drop the UPS options and leave only our Priority Mail option. This is fine except that the UPS error message prevents the customer from moving to checkout with USPS shipping. The end result is we lose the order because they have no way to ship to their address.

The dialog box seems to be working fine but the error message should be ignored when you still have a valid USPS mail shipping option.

I suspect the issue is the same with FPO & DPO addresses as well.


We are running ShopSite11.
